  • We are going to finish the questions uploaded in Google Classroom called "Navigating the Waters: The Psychology of Evil" 
  • You are going to use the RACE Format to respond to the questions. 
  • We will review this as a class, but you will be responsible for finishing the work.

  • I am giving you a length of paper to share with your partner. 
  • Fold it into 9 sections. 
  • Label each of the sections accordingly: 
  • The task will be to create a timeline of all the events, people, and ideas in this text. 
  • This will help you see the evolution of Zimbardo's thinking (and what he wants you to know). 
  • I will be giving you a copy of the rubric tomorrow to score yourselves.

  • Your compare/contrast paragraphs are scored in Google Classroom and there is a rubric pasted into your document for you to view. I left EVERYONE comments. 
  • Remember, you can request regrades for assignments you're not pleased about (after making the appropriate revisions).

  • We all have to stay vigilant and focused - this is a VERY informative text and this is hopefully the last day we will spend reading it.

Look up Philip Zimbardo and find a quote of his. Write down the quote and what you think it means in your own words.

  • We're going to use our survey skills to find out some information about our next text and the author who wrote it.
  • We are paying special attention to TEXT FEATURES. Let's talk about what that means. 
3. TED Talk
  • Before we read, we are going to watch Zimbardo tell us about the psychology of evil through his TED Talk given in 2008. 
  • His talk gives us context. Pay attention to the TONE he uses while speaking.
4.  Read the Text 
  • You have a copy of the text on paper. 
  • We are going to start reading the text together using our cards. 
  • We all have to stay vigilant and focused - this is a VERY informative text.

  • This should not even take up the whole class period. Use these time guidelines to pace yourself: 
    • 1st period: Finish questions BY 8:15 AM (then move on to the video) 
    • 3rd period: Finish questions BY 11:30 AM (then move on to the video)

  • Last week we underlined the different types of evidence Adichie uses in our copies of the text

    • Commonly Held Belief = CHB  
  • Pull out the blank version of the graphic organizer (main idea, claims, evidence) 
  • I will help get you started with the second section of evidence, but your job is to find the claims that come from those pieces of evidence.

3. Peer Feedback
  • We are going to give our peers feedback on their performance task using sticky notes.
  • Write down:
    • 1 thing they did well
    • 1 thing they can do to improve
